A majestic tree, fast growing with branches forming a distinctive descending skirt from 15ft (5m). Silver-grey bark becoming darker and ruggedly ridged with age. Fresh green leaves 5-6ins (14cm) long with very deep opposite lobes and large tufts of buff hair under the vein joints. Leaves turn rich scarlet-brown in autumn. Tolerant of wet soil and hot town conditions. TREE 15ft x 8ft (4.6m x 2.4m) in 20 years, ultimate height 70ft (21m).
