Californian Poppy - An exquisite variety with rich, creamy yellow fluted petals tipped with the most intense coral orange edging. From the tightly scrolled buds to the fully open flower this variety is irresistible. A brilliant bicolour at home in any border. Very hardy, easy to grow and free flowering, they make excellent, if short lived, cut flowers. Flowers summer. Hgt. 20-25cm (8-10in).
Sowing Instructions. Best sown where they are to flower in spring or late summer/early autumn for overwintering. Sow 3mm (1/8in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart in well cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine tilth.
Growing Instructions. Thin out the seedlings to 15cm (6in) apart. They are very hardy and will grow in the poorest soils preferring full sun.
Aftercare Instructions. For spring/summer flowering pot plants in a cool greenhouse or conservatory sow in late summer/early autumn. Grow cool in full light and water sparingly. For cutting, pick when the blooms are still tightly curled.
