OAK, RED (Quercus rubra, Q. borealis)
Autumn colour on Red Oak at the Garden Centre.

Hardy fast growing deciduous tree with broad spreading head. 8 inch (20cm) long leaves, opening pale yellow, turning green in summer then brilliant colours in autumn from yellow to dark red. Any ordinary well drained soil and needs an open sunny position to develop a good shape. Acorns take 2 years to mature.
TREE 30ft x 18ft (9m x 5.5m) in 20 years, ultimate height 100ft (30m).

We can only sell bare-rooted/transplanted plants when they are dormant. Depending on the weather this is normally between November and March. Orders for bare-rooted plants will be despatched in November. We only charge for goods paid by credit/debit cards when they are despatched.
